    700+fp Shell Materials?

I have an old Marmot goretex bag that has 725FP i believe...is at least 700FP..Has anyone made a quilt from this range down (700+) If so what Shell Fabrics did you use? Any down leakage problems?? Was considering M90 or similar.

    Thanks Guys

You shouldn't have a problem with a reputable fabric from a reputable seller (the M** series of fabrics qualifies).

The reason that most vendors rate their fabrics as downproof for 850+ seems to be (and I'd very much welcome a correction here if I'm off-base) the higher percentage of feathers (and, therefore, quills that have the potential to stick through the fabric) in the lower FP downs.

    Hope it helps!

'S okay. I'm just glad it says what I thought; for a moment there, I wondered if I was going senile in my old age.

That's what i think as well...funny though i thought the higher end fabrics had much tighter weaves and would resist punctures by quills better than the cheaper fabrics..maybe not?

In theory, yes. Don't know if that's for sure (I could definitely see the continued push for lighter and lighter fabrics allowing for less pressure needed by the quills to poke through, due to the thinner threads making up the weave).

Best bet? E-mail one of the distributors of one of the high-end tech fabrics. After all, that's kinda what they do...
