    my hammock is about my belly button height, so that when i get in it is about chair seat height.

    I start out with mine a bit higher than I actually want, because after the hammock nylon stretches a bit, it will sag down to just about right.

    I try for chair height but that is by no means a rule that I adhere to. I did notice the ENO website says they wont accept user photos that show hammocks higher than 18". They are squelching my creativity.

    No more then 18" off the ground!!!

    At the house 18-24" but camping I like to be higher, like 36-40".

    While most seem to have not heard of the 18", I have, but wouldn't say it was a rule, just a starting point. I think the Hammock hang calculator that Derek came up with, started your sit height at 18", but you could change it.

    Personally, I like mine a little higher, as others have said, enough that I can comfortable put my shoes on.......RR
