I just finished yo-yoing the trail in 3 days a few weeks ago. It has all been nicely cleared, but my favorite part would be Steel Creek to Kyles. How many miles are you planning? Would you need a shuttle? There are many different routes that you could take, it just depends on how many miles you want to do.

We are looking to start about 2pm on friday and maybe do 20-25 miles total
You could start at Kyles Landing and do a loop to Ponca and back. You could do a hike from Boxely to Erbie, or Ponca to Pruitt. I love this trail because the options are limitless. The power company did a lot of burning from Erbie to Cedar Grove Picnic Area, but that was 3-4 weeks ago.
Have fun and keep us informed on which hike you choose.

Preacha Man,
How long is the loop from Kyles Landing to Ponca and is it actually a loop or will we back track? This would be great cause I don't want to pay a shuttle fee
Kyles to Ponca is 9.8 miles. It is not a loop, so you would have to back track, but that would make 19.2 miles. If you PM me your email address, I will send you a BRT spreadsheet that on of my friends made me. Here is a good forum section about the BRT. I hope that this all helps.

Hey Thanks! I looked on the site and it sounds great . If I use a shuttle whos good?
I have heard that Buffalo Adventures are realy good and cheap! I have never used a shuttle before, but my friends used these people a few months ago and were really happy. I think they charged $30, and their phone number is 870-446-5406.

Looked at the spreadsheet , and all I can say is its wow! This gives us plenty of options. Is water available along the trail this time of year? Thanks for all your help
When I did my yo-yo there was water everywhere, but I was moving fast. All the campgrounds have water faucets, and all the creeks/streams are filled right now. There is probably a lot of run off too, especially since it is raining today. I wouldn't be worried about water. Use your map and the spread sheet to look at creeks and then plan for water accordingly. DO NOT count on the river, because even though the trail follows the river a lot, it is on the high side, and you cannot access the river for water. Again, have fun
