How much Lash-it for complete tarp/hammock setup

I am trying to calculate how much feet of Lash-it (1.75mm) i need for my Tarp and Hammock setup.
    The way i imagine it:

2x12' feet for the central anchor lines tarp tie out.
4x8' feet for the tarp side guylines.
    2x6' fot the hammock guylines.

    Overall 68 feet.Makes sense?

The side tie outs are personal preference. I use 8 feet but you can do with less. Does your tarp have side pull outs? If not, you may one day want to add some or use grip clips ot Dutch's tarp pull outs so it wouldn't hurt to have some Lash-it to attach to those. It's always good to have spare cordage with you as well. I'd order an even 100'. For the extras I mentioned. Given the weight and size of Lash-it there's no downside to having extra IMO.

I'd also suggest using shock cord for your hammock. You need something with a little give so as not to damage the hammock when moving in it or getting in and out of it.

    Sounds about right.

Are you asking to know how much to buy or just trying to figure out how much to have at all points?

I thought it was economical for me to buy a 180' spool from Reddin Marine for around 25 bucks shipped. I've found many uses for it and had what I needed for a second and then 3rd tarp.

I use a continuous ridge line tricked out with Dutchware that's 30 foot
    And then 4-6' guy-outs.

Have you thought of shock cord for hammock tie outs instead?

I would just buy the 180' roll. I'm on my third roll in 4 years.

What's the worst thing that could happen? Well you might learn to splice with that much around!

Another vote for not buying less than the 180" roll from Redden Marine.....you'll use it.

Wow,you guys use a lot of rope. What do you do with so much rope??

Is Lash-it good for general purpose rope? For example i could use it for making wrist grips, securing gear, hanging gear from trees etc...If thats the case i might take 75-100 feet.

Hm,i didnt think of that. Will using simple rope, stretch the edges of hammock fabric tight? So you need shock cord?
I guess i could taut the guyline less tight, with little give, and when wind pushes the hammock it will pull the line tight?

FWIW...you get 68' now and set up your tarp as described...a week later (or a month) you read a thread about using a continuous ridgeline for the tarp and decide you would like to try that. You could have the needed lash-it left on the roll or you can order another 30', pay shipping again and wait for delivery.

Another month goes by and you read about using prusiks on the tarp tie outs so the guy lines can be adjusted from under the tarp in the rain...oops...got to order another couple of feet. Need a ridgeline on the hammock?...oops...got to order more...rinse and repeat. The choice is yours.

That pretty much describes what happened to me. I bought the 1st 180' roll, then I got another hammock and needed more guylines, more soft shackle prusiks, a hammock ridgeline, a tarp ridgeline. Seven hammocks later . . . .

Not to mention when you want to make a ridge line for a friend or two who are getting into it with you.
