What are your ideal dimensions for your tarp

What are the dimensions of your most used tarp? What dimensions would you like your most used tarp to be if not already perfect? Hex, Diamond, or other?

When are doors on the tarp most important?

Oh and can you tell me what material your tarp is too?

    Thank you

My tarp is a WB SF(camo) and I love it! The dimensions are 11'x 10' and I wouldn't change a thing! Although I would like another one in a camo print that has more green in it so it blends better in the summer.

So you have the doors correct? How often do you use the doors? Is yours Polyester or Nylon?

My diy is 12'x11' diy hex. I've got grizz beaks i can add too. I like it, but my next tarp will probably be in the 11' x 8.5' hex.

Tadpole w/ 11' ridgeline (w/ door kit if needed). Wouldn't change it.

Thanks for your input. What material is your tarp? Is your next one going to be smaller to cut down on weight or are there other reasons too?

Re: What are your ideal dimensions for your tarp

I found the extra length makes it harder to pitch the tarp low because of suspension lines. Somewhere there is a diagram of an 11' and 12' coverage that opened my eyes. I want to go narrower for weight and because I rarely use the extra width, but mostly weight. I want to add a door sewn to one side that way I can shift my hammock into that corner (got the idea from Dutch). It will block wind and rain.

So, length is for lower pitch. Width is to cut weight from unused tarp area.

    Silnylon 12' x 10' plus doors.

Yes, the thing is huge and I can hold a party in it...

BUT, I never have to worry about getting wet from blowing rain AND I can get my chair and my pack under it as well.

I deliberately went big and put the doors on it so that I had privacy and space to dress and move about.

Some days on longer hikes I wish for less weight but not enough to give up all the features I've got!
