    Ripstop Nylon 40x34 denier?

I am looking at the magna fabrics for ripstop, and they have this 40x34 ripstop nylon. 1.35 ounces/sq yard. Anyone know what the 40x34 denier means? I have a couple guesses, but my google-fu is failing me.

    1) Different thread thicknesses going vertically vs horizontally.

    2) 40D for the calendaring threads, 34D for the rest.

Number 1 is the correct answer. Calendaring is a whole different process that affect both the weft and warp. It is a process of rolling the fabric between heated platens to slightly melt the threads. This helps seal the weave making it more down proof. Not what ever to do with denier.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Ok, thanks! That is what my leaning was.

Do you happen to know if that is the thicker threads going the long way and thinner the short (preferable for hammocks I would assume).

My advice to you is to try and call in your order, my last 2 orders were wrong even after talking on the phone, they took my order for a 40 yard roll and after a week when i called they said, oh the girl listed it wrong and that fabric is wrong but i have another super nice roll of it in foliage green is that ok, well since i allready paid for it i said ok.
When it arrived it was only 33 yards and it is gray!

Great prices but hit or miss, be careful with magna fabrics

Just received my roll. It shipped 9 hours after I placed my order via internet. I received it yesterday, 2 business days later. I had 2 minor issues.

    1) They didn't send it via Fedex (the only shipping offered). Instead it shipped via USPS. This meant no tracking number. I also asked if I would be receiving a rebate for part of the shipping costs since generally USPS is cheaper, and no response.

    2) The roll was 72" width, not 60/61 like advertised. I haven't checked the length yet. 26 yards is pretty hard to lay out all at once!

Oh, and the color was close to what was pictured (wet cement grey).

Zilla, I was looking at getting a green if at all possible. When I was looking, the only green rolls came in 75+ yards. I did look at the "foliage green" pictured on the website and it definitely looked grey to me there.
