I'd suggest a No Sniveler, maybe order 2 ounces overstuff. With a JRB hood I think you can make 20. I've used mine down to mid twenties and I think my UQ was the limiting factor. I slept fine but I was starting to feel a coolness from below.

A 30* North Face down bag I got at a gear swap for $20. And a modified Speer Top Quilt for warmer weather.

I bet with all the folks that bought the Golite Ultra 20 quilt it may end up being the favorite top quilt

exactly. it depends on how badly the person wants to convince himself that his 150$ quilt is keeping him warm.

i was most satisfied with my ultra 20 when i used it with an old 50 degree speer pea pod, with a BA pad in there as well. i had a great night outside the mt leconte shelter in temps well under freezing and 4-5 inches of snow. this is at 6000 ft so pretty impressive. plus it was night two and i was hungover from night one. however, i had a buttload of clothes on, including a fleece and a micro puff vest.

using it on the ground as the only insulation, however, i found it to perform very very poorly at 25 degrees and low elevation on the benton mackeye trail.
