CRL of Zing-It. Dutch hook on one end & Dutch fly on the other. Continuous loop of Zing-It on both ends of the ridgeline on tarp attached with a prussic & Dutch hook for moving and tightening.

This is how it's been setup since Dutch helped me out when I first started and didn't know how to set anything up.

It could be that there is actually a leak in the ridgeline, but I would look at your crl just to be sure it's not water running on the line under the tarp. Maybe add a couple of drip lines and get out the hose? The only reason I thought of it was because I had a friend that swore his tadpole was leaking....we found out that it was the crl bringing water in and dripping on him.

Maybe I'll seal it AND add drip line just to make sure. I figured with the prussics and hardware, there would be enough "breaks" but maybe not.

Plus, I only have 1 tree in my yard so it might be hard to set up and hose down to check it.

Should I add the drip lines just inside the tarp where the tarp attaches to the ridgeline? Will anything work for a drip line or should I use something special?

I'll probably pick up some of the Permatex stuff today on the way home. Everything is in the basement drying now.

You could just tie a piece of string to your crl, just be sure you have it "under" the ends of the tarp. The prussics will act as a drip line, but if they are outside the tarp, you still have an opportunity for the water to wick in under the tarp.

You could also just try running your crl over the tarp and see if that makes a difference. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

    Re: Old Man Winter leak

By running the ridgeline underneath a tarp doesn't it give it more stability and strength than if you go over?

There has been lots of discussions about that here, but I think that most people have found that it's a matter of preference. Some tarps are actually made to have a bit of a saddle effect and by running the ridgeline under the tarp it prevents it from pitching correctly. Seems like I remember someone saying that the superfly is like that (but I can't remember for sure).
