    Hammock comfort

I purchased my first hammock at the end of July. I set it up in my back yard and have slept in it every night save maybe three nights since. Last night our area was forecast for rain and I awoke during the night to a pretty heavy shower. I stayed awake a short while listening to the rain off my tarp, breathing in the clean fresh air and finally fell off to sleep. I awoke around six and started seeing some lightning so since I'm on a little knoll and hooked up to some pretty tall trees and a couple years back lightning struck and killed a big walnut tree 50' from where I'm sleeping I decide to go on in the house. I got in the bed and tossed , turned , fluffed my pillow and would wake every 30 minutes or so to repeat this procedure. I came to realize that this has been the way I've slept for years in a bed. Although I get a good sleep I have to work to get comfortable. When I get in my hammock I can't say whether I fall asleep in 2 ,10 or 20 minutes. I sleep relaxed no tossing , turning, adjusting this or that I just sleep. I guess I'll be sleeping out side all winter or have to rig my hammock inside.

Ex side sleeper here, I sleep in big brazilian hammock almost 5 years and do not have plans to go bact to sleeping on the bed. You could rig it inside in bedroom as a bed replacement.

Sounds like you need to put a couple of eyebolts in the walls, just be sure you put them into the studs and you'll be set up to hang full time.

Time to bring it indoors. No point returning to a bed (shudder).

Get a stand if you don't want to drill holes in the walls. I love my Brazilian; would hate to have to go back to a bed. It's all about comfort.

Maybe a stupid question. But do you find any benefit to a underquilt when hanging inside.

An inside temp of 75 degrees will pull warmth from your 98.6 degree body. Some type of insulation is needed, at least in my case. YMMV

Welcome to the pleasure of fulltime hanging. Yes, you do need some, though minimal, undercover.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

I have a DL hammock and a thick pad , eggshell on one side that I bought to use in my popup camper for overflow, obviously not something you'd backpack. I found last month on warm nights I'd get too hot with the pad in. Took it out for awhile during the last warm spell.
