I purchased my first hammock at the end of July. I set it up in my back yard and have slept in it every night save maybe three nights since. Last night our area was forecast for rain and I awoke during the night to a pretty heavy shower. I stayed awake a short while listening to the rain off my tarp, breathing in the clean fresh air and finally fell off to sleep. I awoke around six and started seeing some lightning so since I'm on a little knoll and hooked up to some pretty tall trees and a couple years back lightning struck and killed a big walnut tree 50' from where I'm sleeping I decide to go on in the house. I got in the bed and tossed , turned , fluffed my pillow and would wake every 30 minutes or so to repeat this procedure. I came to realize that this has been the way I've slept for years in a bed. Although I get a good sleep I have to work to get comfortable. When I get in my hammock I can't say whether I fall asleep in 2 ,10 or 20 minutes. I sleep relaxed no tossing , turning, adjusting this or that I just sleep. I guess I'll be sleeping out side all winter or have to rig my hammock inside.
