    Finished My UQ..

    5 yards of ripstop
    1 spool of thread
    6 yards of 1 1/2' grosgrain
    15 ft of shockcord
and a 4 dollar king down comforter

and 9 hours of measuring and messing up...Don't look the best nor does the seams look professional, but it hangs well and we shall see in a few weeks what temps it will get me into..

and yes, I just cut the quilt to my specs and stitched it under some ripstop.
Weighs in at around 2 lb, it won't be used on long adventures so weight wasn't an issue for me

Pretty much custom made to my height..I'm gonna say in the range of 6'7" in length and 50 inches wide..

    Dude.

You got a down underquilt for about $50.

Who cares if the stitches are straight?

Awesome. That alone should make you sleep better. Nice job.

Wish I could find a down comforter where I live.

Looks good! Your next one will be much easier.

Don't worry about the stitching - your making something as complicated as an uq is what matters.
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

I was taking a weekend trip to gatlinburg/Smoky mountains and decided to stop at the flea market across from Bass pro....Some guy had one wadded up on a shelf...he told me he covered his stuff up with it, I asked if he would be willing to sell it, he said $4...I gave him $5 and ran before he knew what he had done..
