    Question Need a hammock made!

I have a BIAS WWM that I love the weight of. However, at 11 feet it is too long for my tarp and papa smurf bug sock. I am 5.9 and actually like hammocks a little shorter.

    I am thinking 9 - 9.5 foot x 60+ inches.

I want it in the same UL material used by BIAS. Not sure if it's a 1.1 or 0.9.

Where can I go to get this made? I do have an email into BIAS already. Looking for options.

Also, how do you guys feel about the size? I am looking for under 10 feet with an optimal width.

You could check out the Grand Trunk Nano. It sounds like what you are looking for. It's actually 1.7, but it's about 7oz total.

One of the issues I have with the BIAS is that I ordered it too narrow. It's 52 inches. To go shorter I would want it even wider that an 11 to make up for it. The GT is 9' x 48".
I actually had one ordered on Amazon last night and cancelled it.

FWIW...in my opinion, wider does not make up for shorter. The extra width would help to keep a quilt from falling out, but may not increase comfort.

Use the hammock you have and whip one end to the length you want to try. Girth hitch the suspension on and see if you like the length.

    Re: Need a hammock made!

I had a 9.5 ft hammy made for day hikes. 4.3oz.
Also use the GT Nano7 inside the van.
Both are comfortable but my feet usually hang off cause they're bout 4ft wide.
Your idea of a wider short hammy should be comfy... think I'll look for some 60" - 72" fabric and try that
I also prefer the 1.1 or 1.0 fabric.

Already done. I have it tied off at 9 feet. I like the length but like someone else said, my feet tend to fall off then end and I would like to get a little more asymmetrical.

Why is the hammock too short for the tarp? Isn't the tarp too short for the hammock?

Do you have the HG standard cuben fiber tarp (10' 10" x 8.5") or did you really order one with a 10 ft. ridgeline? I have a HG tarp with 10'10" ridgeline and use my WWM all the time with it. Take away 10 inches from the ridgeline and it would definitely be too short.
