LNT advocates neutral colors, as in blend-in:
Colors - Neutral colors help minimize the visual impact you have on others. Instead of bright yellow tents, use grey, green, or blue. Use a tan backpack cover and save the hunter orange one for hunting season. Consider the colors of your clothing and plan to wear earth-tones. This will help your group seem smaller and less noticable, especially in open areas where there is little forest cover.

As a woman who solos pretty much exclusively, I don't want any unwanted attention, so I prefer to blend in.

It all depends on where I am camping. If camping in campsites, or places regularly occupied by campers, Then i choose to try to blend in as much as possible. With that being said; If I am deep in the woods somewhere hiking I like to be able to be seen. Same if I decide to throw up a campsite. I am very paranoid of being mistaken for a deer by an over eager hunter. Hunting 101 says never shoot at anything you cant see or dont know exactly what it. BUT, I know way too many hunters that shoot at anything that moves.

Digital camo tarp with blaze orange guy lines and ridgeline. I guess I'm confused. Blending is my goal but I still want to be able to find my campsite again!

I like to blend into the environment. I do a lot of musky fishing on rivers so im not in the same spot till its time to hang for the night. This is the 2nd reason why I love my hammock.

Mainly an off-track wanderer these days, and rarely bump into other hikers,
so blending in with the enviroment is not really an issue.

Still love the greens & camo's, but nowadays,
I tend to go for the brighter easier found colours.
So if the worst happens & I die out there, at least the search party/
helicopter should be able locate a flaming red tarp in a sea of green foliage...
even if it's just to give closure & help the grieving process for my wife & kid.

Also, it's a lot easier to see from afar if I'm using it as a valley base camp, while exploring the peaks unhindered by my the weight of my pack.

Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

For a long time tents were green and brown and now they come in any color you
like. Shoes that used to be black and brown are now in every possible color.
Hammocks and tarps will probably follow that cultural pattern and be out there
with any and every color. That 4 foot by 10 foot flat tarp surface just beckons to
have a glow in the dark design or mural or flag on it.

On one hand I like to blend to reduce the visual impact. At the same time I take something that will signal where I am. This is especially an issue when canoe camping as it courteously lets people see the site is occupied before they paddle across the lake and unload into my site. ;-)
    YMMV

I prescribe to the gray man philosophy. I prefer to blend in and not be seen unless I want to be.

I tend to actively avoid camo. I just think it's tacky unless you're out hunting. Plus most of the camo gear I've seen is a bit heavier than its olive drab counterpart. I have a bit of black gear, and although it doesn't blend, I don't think it "pops" as much as brightly colored gear. But at the same time I have a bright red tablecloth hammock that I still enjoy, and did plan to use backpacking until I made my 1.1. Use what you like, it's all preference here. I like black and red a lot, so I have lots of black and red. If dynaglide and zing-it came in back, I'd buy some in a heartbeat to have matching UCR's and SRL.
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!

I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.

It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.
