    superfly vs mamajamba

so i have been looking at these 2 tarps and they have the same dimensions if i am not mistaken. So i was wondering what sets them apart? How can the superfly have integrated doors and the mamajamba need a door kit if they are the same demension?

    superfly vs mamajamba

Mambajamba is the superfly without doors. I have the superfly and most times in our Tennessee weather I don't use the doors.

They are the same dimensions from a ridge line length and a width stand point, but the Mamajamba is a Hex tarp, and the Superfly is shaped like this.

I'd go with the doors. The added protection far outweighs the small amount of extra fabric.

I have the Mamajamba with Door Attachments and on most trips I bring the doors just in case. For me I don't like the door attachment set up. Too many small parts to lose. I was thinking whether I should have them sewed on.

I think I'm gonna go with the superfly, I like the idea of doors and added protection. Superfly it is..

I have the Mamajamba and could not be more pleased with it. However, I have yet to encounter any real weather with it. I am thinking about putting in a couple of tabs to give me the options of making a snug fitting door option. For the price, weight difference i would go with the superfly... Can't go wrong with either. I would check to see if he has any "blemished" tarps and make your choice from there.

It may depend which hammock you have under the tarp. For example, the Ridgerunner's spreader bars add width that you don't want rubbing against the tarp fabric, but the Superfly's pullouts don't match these bars -- the pullouts are closer together.

There are ways around this, so you can certainly use a Superfly with a Ridgerunner, but matching a specific hammock with the tarp is something you may want to consider.

I went SF, and I find I use the doors around half the time. Any time there is a wind (unless it's warm and the wind is desirable) I close the doors.
