Question: for the Big & Tall Hammockers

I apologize if this question has been asked before. I've been reading postings and watching videos for the last month plus. I want to jump into hammock camping. I'm 6'5" and 260 lbs. For the "biguns" out there, what hammocks do you find works best for the big boyz? I've read about shoulder squeeze and tension on your calves if you don't get the correct hammock fit for your body shape.

I've been looking at the WBBB XLC and the Dream Hammock. Are there any other hammocks out there that cater to the taller person? What should a tall person look for in a hammock?

    Thanks in advance

I'm interested to see what kind of responses you get to your questions. My hubby is just about the same size as you and currently researching his next hammock purchase (currently in a ENO doublenest). He has been leaning towards the WBBB XLC 1.7 double layer.
With a radical sense of hope, I strive for the seemingly impossible.

I can't recommend anything because I'm trying to figure it out too. I'm 6'2" 245lb and I started with an ENO singlenest. I still use it for backpacking, but I am more comfortable in my Yukon Outfitters double. It gives me more room to lay diagonal. I'm leaning toward a BIAS camper XL for my next one.

Have you thought about DIY? Purchase a crinkle taffeta tablecloth from tableclothsfactory.com and whip the ends. They come in a few different lengths and I have seen people post on here about putting over 400 lbs in them comfortably, no stretch or tear. Just a thought for you to ponder.

can't go wrong with the sierra madre research pares. 10.8' x 6.5'. i've seen it hold 2 grown men and 6 grown women at one time.

    Big boys

Sounds like you may do better with a custom hammock. Call the vendors directly. I bet they can help you.

I've been incredibly comfortable in a HH Safari, though I'm looking to move to a WBBB. It feels roomy even at my size. The only thing I don't like about it is, stuffed in a backpack, it and the hex fly take up a lot of room. I'm currently at 6'2" and around 290lbs.
