Is that 400lbs. for a sl or a dl?... I was looking at some of the taffeta colors and saw they have dimensions up to 90" by 156" which would most likely be a great choice for a DIY hammock for a bigger person

With all the new high-speed fabrics, I think your challenge will come from a hammocks length. With my WBBB's footbox, I can find myself with feet all the way in it, and my head not far from the ridgeline and gathered end. I'm with Zatch in the 6'2, 290lb range. Though I haven't tried many hammocks to be honest, I forsee myself going with the bb XLC when I pass the BB onto my daughter...in like 8 years

i just recently started using a hammock. I have a very cheap and very simple setup. eno double nest, rings, and webbing. I am 6'6" 240 and I have been very comfortable in my eno. The only problem i have had so far is a little knee pain, but a sweat shirt or small pillow for support under my knees seems to solve that problem.

I am 6'5" and 250# and I have no problems sleeping in my gt double. It's wide enough to get a good diagonal lay. I just updated the suspension to whoopies and ratchet straps to make it a little more professional and easy to use. Heck I have loaded 450lbs in it on stock suspension and no issues at all.

Gear: superfly tarp gt double hung from whoopies and an eno bug net.

    tx,
    Bill...
Same height here, just 40 lbs heavier, and I like my WBBB dbl 1.7 fine.
