7.5 oz climashield UQ build thread

This will be my 4th underquilt, after making my first three IX UQ's following the DIYGS plans. I have ordered:

2 yds 5 oz CS Apex
2 yds 2.5 oz CS Apex
    4 yards 1.1 RS seconds
    Shock cord

Was planing on doing something similar as user scooterbrown did as described in this post https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...2&postcount=24 . I thought it might be helpful to dart the layers to help it conform better to the hammock without compressing the insulation, but will have to plan ahead if I go with the "inside-out" sewing method. Any ideas for a darting plan, or would I be better off using ripstop ribbons like grosgrain to cover the unfinished edges and be able to size the top and bottom shells while pinning to avoid compression? I'm also thinking of trimming the edges to have some extra insulation to make draft collars with. Any ideas I can stew on while I wait for my material to come in will be most appreciated!

I did a 5.0 using two layers of 2.5. You might want to do some light quilting to keep the layers from shifting. I used yarn through both layers with a piece of cardboard the same thickness as the doubled up layers when I tied the knot, as shown in part 6 of this guide: https://www.hammockforums.net/index.php?page=kaq
    .

I also found it better to use short strips of scrap on top of the insulation sewing the layers together as the Climashield tends to get caught up in the feet. Lostagain uses full length strips, I just used several about a foot or so long.

The quilt I've done has no darts, just a rectangle as shown in the link you provided. The only compression seems to be at the ends and with a draft collar, I don't think that's much of an issue.
