I never would have antied up for that trip( your Grandpa wouldn't go would he ) . We do a lot more camping then we do hiking . Our April 15 trip started out mild and then torrential rains and then turned well below freezing with 28 mph winds . Here's my buddy Davros going amphibian and here's my feet . That big ol cook stove saved my bacon .

Printed the map on Reid Lake . That could certainly be an option if Byron lake is snowed in .
I see you can use chains in Michigan as long as your chains don't touch the road ( hmmmm)
My plan was to bring em along just in case but I really don't want to be taking em on and off that much . Might just have to drive on the berm up to the BP .
Have any of you camped at both Reid Lake and Byron . I like Byron because it's just a short hike to the Ausable which I would like to check out in winter .
