Just wondering if we were camping in a campground or will we be in the backcountry ? Will we have access to water or have to carry in? Never been to Shawnee forest before so not familiar with the area .

Good questions Campalot; it'll be good to see you again! If anyone has a good map they can share on-line that would also help, or a blow by blow itinerary

    Trails

I have done the garden of the gods big loop nice trail tons of great places to camp, I have also done the river to river trail from Elizabethtown IL to Herod IL, River to River trail is poorly marked at best and hard to follow. I have been trying to find my trail guide book for the river to river trail but have not had any luck as of yet. I will keep looking!!!!!!
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is rapture on the lonely shore, There is society where none intrudes , By the deep sea, and music in its roar, I love not man the less, but nature more. Lord Byron

I checked the calendar and my buddy is getting married on the 21st.
Keep me in mind for the next one. I check the Midwest forum frequently.
Hope you guys have a great weekend. GoG is beautiful area. Just be careful cause the cliffs come on you really quick and it's easy to get right to the edge before you even know you are there.
