Four-day solo paddle in the ADKs

I really enjoyed my trip this year... the weather was perfect, the campsites I used were free of marauding mice, squirrels and chipmunks, and no rodents raided my vehicle in the parking area while I was paddling.

Four days went by quick enough, and I hated to have to go home.

    Good paddling,

Great sunset shots. Sure looks pretty. Maybe we'll be out that way next summer if plans to meet my sister from the UK take shape.

Like the shots of the Bell Magic(?).

Have you found mice to be a problem in the hammock. We have had them use our tent as a slide one time, climbing up one side then zipping down the other, but it must be loads worse in the hammock!

Thanks. It sure is a pretty place. The boat is indeed a Bell Magic (White Gold layup). On a trip to the same area the same week last year, I was overrun with ambitious and bold rodents. Mice, chipmunks and squirrels were all over the packs and gear, constantly trying to get into the food. Back at the trailhead, they got inside my Subaru Forester and made a heck of a mess.

This year: no problem! I have never had a mouse or squirrel in my hammock (that I know of), and since it stays free of any food smells, I'm hoping I never do!

I hope you get to visit the Adirondacks with your family in the future... it's a nice place!

Beautiful pics! At first I thought the teakettle pic looked familiar:

But I realized they weren't the same place. Mine's at Pillsbury Lake about two months ago .

Thanks everyone... glad you like the photos. If I had known the water was going to be so smooth and the sunsets so nice, I would have packed my digital SLR and a few lenses in addition to the compact camera! I could have taken a LOT of photos on Thursday night (the evening the sunset photos were taken). The water was like a mirror and the sky was changing by the minute. Just breath-taking. To add to the ambiance, there was a very friendly, very busy, very talkative Song Sparrow feeding about ten feet away from me, singing his happy song right up until it started getting dark.
