    Using cord to hang hammock

Wanting to use cord to hang a hammock I only weigh 130 pounds. What's the lightest do you think I can get away with?

Dynaglide will easily hold you. I started using a couple Dynaglide UCR's that I got from another member here when I was around 195lbs, and after I broke them in I have had no problems. For weight, the pair of 6ft UCR's weigh 13g, so still less than half an ounce.
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!

I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.

It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.

Dynaglide will hold with no problem. What kind of hanging do you intend to do? Backpacking?

Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy,

Before I discovered webbing suspension for it's ease of adjustment, I used paracord with siberian hitch and had no problem whatsoever. I think paracord is less strong than amsteel, but the outer portion is more resistant. I find amsteel to break away in small strands after use on hard surfaces, such as tree bark.

Obviously, as mentionned, it would be best to use tree huggers not to damage the tree, but at your weight (similar to mine), and if you have to use only cordage, you can use paracord. It's cheaper too!

Paracord has many uses. It stretches a lot though. I think it is less suited for your application than the low to no stretch hollow braided options.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the strength to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
