I was wondering the same thing. Maybe the last map you generated was too close to the current time? If so, they just guess future depths. It can be misleading so you have to look at the top title and it will say "forecasted".

38° and sunny this saturday looks to be the worst day for our snow. Not much in the forecast but I'l still hoping for a nice storm right before our trip to freshen things up!

Already laying out my gear. Hoping to keep the pack around 32lbs total. The only luxury items I'm bringing is a tripod stool and homahawk. Never carried the stool before so that will need to strap onto my pack somehow. Oh, and of course some Jim Beam

a jump up to 38 before more fridgid temps next week is a good thing. My snowshoe attempt in 20-24" of powder was brutal last weekend. a little thaw will help crust the surface and make snowshoeing easier.

the water idea for keeping cannister fuel warm is a new one for me...I'll definitely be trying that trick out. thanks for the tip Mark6.

Bought a cheap heavy Walmart bag tonight rated for 0 degree...not sure if I trust the rating (you get what you pay for), but paired with my Kelty bag and diy UQ, I should be ready for the cold. Actually getting excited about it.

Interested if I can set up a carpool, coming out of jackson. I was up in Alpena this last weekend and there was almost two foot of snow and temps down to -16F. Kind of a roll of dice on how cold it can get this time of year.

HAHA yeah, I posted a few weeks ago about why I don't understand Accuweather's need to forecast out 40 days. Makes no sense.

But now that we're 14 days out it's starting to get to a reasonable timeframe. NOAA has most of Michigan's chances much below normal too, so I think it's safe to plan on max highs around 20 and lows at a max of 10. Adding a few items to my gear...it's going to be a COLD ONE!

As long as a butterfly doesn't flap it's wings and change the course of the jet stream somewhere . I believe it's going to be cold tho . My previous low was a balmy 9 degrees so probabley break a personal record .
