I'm trying to figure out my schedule. It's a 5hr drive, so I'll either take a half day vacation and arrive around 5:30PM Friday, or maybe burn the whole day and come up early Friday...or even late Thursday night. Too many options overloading my indecisive nature!

Why don't you take off Wednesday , break trail back to the campsight , get a nice fire going , drill some ice fishing / water holes and then we'll come moseying in .

Actually that kind of sounds like fun . You could hike to the top of Byron lake hill , down to the Ausauble etc .

My latest pod seems too constrictive for me ( also heavy )
here is a thread i wrote about it.the only thing i would change is i would use a couple different colors of material for the pocket dividers.easier to keep track of whats where that way. and maybe instead of pleating the pocket material i would cut the pocket dividers radial from a bigger piece of material.

Looks like a ton of work but I think I have to try it . If it doesn't work out do you think you'd have room for a 250 pounder in your hammock ?

So is it too early to talk about food . ( tied for first as my favorite topic ) . Thinking my four bean , bean stew from scratch . Tried a variation this fall with squirrel broth instead of bacon . Actually that might be a good destination for at least part of the Porkupine .

Did some Blueberry scones ( somebody around the fire called em scones ) Half Blueberry mix half biscuit mix . Used the reflective oven skills taught me by the BIG RED ONE . Used a disposable turkey pan as the reflector and a little homemade aluminum tray .

I have only been there when there is no snow. Coming in on the M65 side would add considerably to the hike, snowshoe or ski in. I will try to check with the forest service to see if Ausable Road is plowed. I know that in the past they have plowed some of the parking areas.
