Hello from Mendocino County, CA

Thanks folks for having such an amazing forum with so many knowledgeable contributors. I was a backpacker and climber in my early life but never got into the hammock scene. After a severe injury and years of car camping and no camping I am getting into solo camping again using a kayak. I've been lurking here for a few weeks and joined so I could pick some of your minds and hopefully hook up with other hangers that have physical and/or health challenges and willing to share some ideas.
The whole world of lightweight camping has changed so much in the last 30 or so years that I am amazed at what I don't know, especially about hammocks and hanging. Hope you folks don't mind helping me brainstorm my way through this transition.

Thank you for the warm welcomes, glad to see that there are so many simi-local members here.
Mannowar, I head up to Humboldt Co every once in a while volunteering for KMUD and and others. Love the area there.
Garyg763, great on the new yak. I got my latest, a Wilderness Tarpon 120 about a year ago, if you make it up this way let me know, maybe set up an overnighter up Noyo River.

I got into hammocking to compensate for Titanium knees. Just not ready to give up camping and crawling on the ground in the t**t is not an option anymore. My mode of journey is the dual sport motorcycle...works with some extreme caution.
