What seams to work best to keep your hands warm?

I have suede leather mittens with a sheep skin liner, which I then wear a liner glove inside.

They are warm, But I haven't had a chance to test them below Zero.
Lets call it a hole in the glove. I wear a thin pair and on my left hand which is my main hand the thumb, index and middle have worn out from handling stoves and chores and such that my middle digit was exposed the most. Nothing else suffered. Face out all day. Plan on having some glove layers…with no holes))))….and be ready to be taking gloves on and off a lot.

Leather choppers over heavy wool mitts plus hand warmers work well in below zero conditions.

So I know it's still early but as of right now accuweather is predicting temps at 32* F for highs and around 13* F for lows. I was thinken if temps are like that, and considering what people will be bringing for insulation we might have to change the name to The Sweaty Butt hang. Lets hope temps don't get that high. It would make it an awfully wet weekend.

I'm pretty sure the Accuweather forecast is just a crapshoot this far out. I don't think it will be that warm, nor as cold as this week. As long as it dips below zero at some point most people will be happy, but -30 might be tough.

what is everybody using for tarp stakes?

can you get down to the ground or do you have to stake into the existing snow?

Several approaches exist on this front. For regular stakes, people have the best luck with narrow peg-style ones. In particular, the heavier version of the Vargo titanium nail pegs seem to work for many. Staking in the snow itself depends greatly on the conditions. If it's in the teens above zero and the snow's a bit compacted, the wide snow stakes work great. When it's colder and/or the snow is fresher, it can be hard to get those to hold, so some people will tie a line to a chunk of wood or pieces of gear instead. You can also get little "pockets" that can hold in snow or sand a bit better than the stakes sometimes.

If you ever get a stake in the ground you probably can't get it back.
I use a dead man type anchor, sticks buried in the snow.
One line, big loop, around the stick then tied, use a figure 9, back at the tarp.
When you untie the end, just pull the line through the snow and your tarp is free.
Let them freeze in for about an hour then tension the tarp.
Or tie out to available brush, trees
