-40ºF last night))))))) All good in the hammocks. We both had the gear and confidence.
Lucky there was not a bunch of wind and we were in a shelters spot on a sweet lil' lake.
    First night was -35ºF…second -40ºF.
I got some frostbite on one finger. I been tagged by Jack Frost.
More later. I need to thaw out my head.

Strung Out is a good guy to have out there in these EXTREME temps.
A new personal low temp for us both.
Video to come after some Honey Squeezing.

How did the mukluks work out? Did you use them for just around camp, or did they become your main boot?

As my main boot. I used them to hike in on with snowshoes and used them around camp. Wore thinner socks hiking. Added another felt liner when i got to camp and put on a fresh and dry thicker and loose wool sock. Like TZ said…I added an elastic loop to the top of sock so it stayed up on my leg.
They worked great and I am pleased.
Also easy to get in and out of to get up to pee and they did not freeze up.

Haaa…pooping is not that bad. I wait until I am up and warmish. Just drop the layers and go. I sat right on the fiberglass latrine that I dug out of the snow. Cold but kinda fun. Your body seems to accept the short exposure.

My wee touch of frostbite….a blister. Gotta keep an eye on it.

Shug if you freeze anything else, please no photos.

I was pulling shock corded tent stakes out of the frozen ground. I had a hold of the shock cord with a very numb fingers and had pulled the cord taunt. I got hit with a very cold fast moving tent stake right on the very end of my knuckle.

If there's no one in the woods to hear you scream, does it still hurt? Oh yeah!

I don't want to discourage you, but if you have not done this type of thing before this is not the place to learn how.

Safety, and getting back with all your parts is kind of important
    Good advice for all TZ)))))))
After just being out there in the MN Cold it is VERY IMPORTANT to note that if your not 100% confident in your hammock rig and the insulation you need to get through the night and footwear, gloves, head gear and all then please re-think this.
Also your mental confidence is truly important.
Don't want anyone to suffer or have a terrible time doing this.

He sent a note saying all good other than some dehydration. We both tried to drink a bunch but it takes discipline to do it.
Getting to -40º was awesome….yes, I typed awesome. We did not know it would get that low but were prepared for -34º.

I'm doing great. Had a spectacular time out in the frosty woods with ol' blister finger. We were quite warm and comfortable and had a beautiful spot to camp.

We did have a fair amount of fluid intake, but not quite enough for me I guess.
Lost a few pounds of water weight. Nothing critical, and a slight headache was a good warning sign.
I will be working on some cozies for water bottles here shortly.
    HINT, HINT FBH dudes ;-)

Getting ready for a BWCA hike this coming weekend.
Gear is already unpacked, getting washed, dried etc.

    Woooooooohooooo Winter!
