By the way.Got in a test run of my pod system Monday night.Got down to 5.Had to work that day so hung my rig in a shed behind behind one of the stations I work out of. Ha,got to spend about a warm and cozy 2 hours in it between 3 EMS runs.Next morning I got to pump out my basement and fix some pipes! I love the cold, Brian.

in the spreadsheet it specifically said to bring 2 gallons of water in a container that can be cut apart like plastic milk jugs.....

It helps to bring some water in a gallon jug. We shoveled a lot of snow last year as we are not near good water to gather. The water will be smoky and very pine needle filled. We shoveled snow onto a tarp to drag up near the fire and water.

Yeah I know. Seems kind of redundant though, more trouble than it's worth IMHO but to each their own right. Maybe we just have "Superior" ice where we camp at the WI winter hang.

It can be done with only snow, but with 20+ people and a min of a gallon a day each, one day = 20 gallons, melting enough snow to get that is an extremely big task.
Last year snow was minimal, and a bit dirty, we were bringing it in from a bit away for water.

If there was a lake near I would opt for lake water. The stream close by will probably be frozen to the bottom and has a beaver dam above our site.

When I am out solo or with only a couple of others I only carry water bottles and refill with snow. Most folks do not have enough discipline to stay hydrated.

You know that actually does make a lot of sense now in the community aspect that if people didn't have to worry about water so much and melting their own snow, more fun could be had! Your right. There are a LOT of people going on this hang and a gallon a day at the least for cooking, drinking, and washing out pots could become quite the chore. I hope what I said didn't offend anyone, the "Superior" ice comment was a pun.

earlier there was concern of not having enough firewood in the original location, are we going to try and move, or stay at the original location?

So my plan is too be there Wednesday. Looks like most people are showing up Thursday. I'm thinking Jason will be gong with me. Like TZ said in an earlier post, will set up somewhat close to where we had it last year, maybe across the trail. We will scout around the area. And find a better spot.

If you like hanging by a fire…..bring a stool or chair for max comfort. It's gonna be a throng at the fire)))))))
Projected weather so far is 16ºF in the days and down to -6ºF at night. Still plenty chilly.

do to getting some form of illness and having to take off work from it, I cannot attend next weeks hang. can't afford more time off. downside of contract work and no benefits.
doesn't mean my pulk will be leaving my living room yet until I am done building poles and such. still plan on sleeping outdoors once healthy enough.

It is a little further than we wanted it to be….and was frozen solid last year.
