Well the site is in state forest that Stairguy found last year….so no fees for us. Stairguy started the FBHang but had to drop out this year so this is were it has remained.
There is a creek fairly near but it was frozen solid and no one had an auger. Bit of work to get to the creek. May be very shallow. So….if anyone want to tote an auger in and take the lead on seeing if it is doable…auger on)))))
But there are plenty of trees to hang from for many hangers.
Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
Well, I found one possibility that looks interesting. The DNR forest inventory says there's a stand of mature cedars on the east shore of Greenwood Lake (around 47° 30.707', -91° 37.527'), which I'd imagine would be nice for hanging. There's a parking lot at the boat launch (47° 30.313', -91° 39.208') right off County Highway 2 (which I'd imagine is plowed), which would be about a mile and a half walk across the lake, or people could park on the ice. As a bonus, apparently that lake has a decent walleye population. Thoughts? Anyone local interested in doing some reconnaissance?
Not sure how local anyone is. Which does make this sort of event a challenge. It does take/ or can take alot of personal time putting on an event like this.
I know good access to the Superior Hiking Trail was a big factor in the placement of camp.
That being said, it doesn't matter where we go to me. Take the reins and lead us there.
