If you have them, use them, especially with deep snow. If you don't have them, you may have a more difficult time but I wouldn't say you have to run to the nearest outfitter and drop a bunch of cash for this hang. There are so many varieties out there to choose from that it may be worth it to rent a pair to try out and see what others bring to the hang.

State parks rent them along with a few of the lodges along the north shore. This weekend was my first experience with snowshoes and all I can say is that I won't be walking in the snow without them.

I bought a pair last year before the hang and did not use them that weekend (I have since though). The trail for the most part is a groomed snowmobile trail. Of course they may be needed at some point, one never knows. But like what was said, should be a well worn path with this many people.

One of the days we went elsewhere for a hike. They would have been nice on that trail. Shug had his along so he broke trail for all of us youngins. I will have mine along this year.

As a starter pair, for fluffy snow These are as good as you can get, and as cheap.
They have no crampon teeth but work very well in deep snow.
Once you get the bindings set up right they are very easy to use, and fit any size, read BIG boot.

I have some extra that I can bring if anyone needs some

However, the state park rentals aren't allowed out of the park, so while good for trying out the concept, you can't use that as a source for bringing to this event. REI also rents them, and those you could bring.

    Thanks Guys,

I saw that REI rents them, however they are $50. I think, I would add $20-$30 and just buy a pair. Amazon has several, or even get the one at the Sportsman's Guide. That way I would have them.

I'll have to give it some more thought.

Something I didn't know thanks for bringing it up. I rented a pair from a lodge near gooseberry that were $12 a day.

Snowshoes….good to have. Also dependent on snow depths.
I know I want to go on a day trip to Crosby on the Humpback Trail and it will more than likely not be well broken the whole way. Snowshoes with some crampons will help a lot.
