Lol... every time it gets cold I haven't been able to test my gear. I'm in San Diego for Christmas, but may sleep out tomorrow night... should be a whopping 50 degrees. Hopefully early next week will be cold and I can get out to some below 0 temps.

Its funny... I'm warm.... and I'm jealous of not being home and cold. My family I think it questioning my sanity.

It was a great night out! I was warm, warm, warm! Lot's of frost though, need to take care of that. My frost bib kept sliding down my ridgeline toward my face. Gotta put a prusik on that... I used a 0 degree Incubator with a thin down jacket between the underquilt and hammock for extra warmth, and a 0 degree top quilt on top with an old Speer top quilt inside that. I used am old Speer tarp with doors, but forgot my pullouts so that was fun. I'm in the middle of making a winter tarp right now, looking forward to testing that when I'm done with it.

Heading up to Northern MN after Christmas to visit family and do more gear testing! It was -25 lastnight up where I'm heading

I use a piece of shock cord with a prusik on the ridge line so you can get the right angle.

Woke at 8:30 bib was full of frost. Also, like you a bit in the tarp and around. Moist night. Nothing underneath me or nothing critical.
It was -11º here when I awoke. My thermometer recorded -14º as the low here last night. Whooooooo Buddy))))
I was toasty warm in my Pod System. Not even a little bit cold!!! Slept in little clothing….two light fleece shirts, long capilene insulated underwear, fleece tights, one pair smart wool socks. Balaclava, beanie, BlackRock hat and down hood and fleece face-mask on head.
Pod System….20º Western Mountaineering sleeping bag over hammock with Warbonnet 0º Black Mamba TQ, Therarest Sit-pad in TQ under feet. Frankenquilt 20º UQ under me inside pod. My down jacket over footbox. 2QZQ Underquilt Protector hanging loosely under all. Very warm and no condensation.

Hopeful the temps stay cold up here through mid January. Otherwise my new quilt set might be too warm. You Americans really need to join the 21at Century though and switch to Celsius.

Better too warm than not warm enough for an extended stay in the c-c-c-cold.
Hey, you'll be in Fahrenheit-Land when your down here but bring your Celsius.

I too had a cozy night out in the hammock. Clear and calm. Quite a beautiful sky.

The sidekick, Boogsy, had to work late. So we had a big fire in my backyard and discussed past and future adventures til the wee hours. Good times.
