New River with WBBB: how do you deal with shoulder slip?

Hi all. I'm hoping someone will have suggestions for adjusting the New River so that it stays in place with a Blackbird. Was out this weekend with Scouts and ended up having the UQ slip off the outside shoulder both nights, despite several adjustments, including trying Triangle Thingies.

    Thanks in advance!

New River with WBBB: how do you deal with shoulder slip?

Personally when I was having a issue with the shoulder slip I had to loosen the shock cord in the end. I had it cinched way too tight. While I was lying in the hammock I just reached out found the cord lock and released the tension. Now when I put a quilt on I start loose and tighten it up.

    Hope it helps

I use a small carabine and clip the edge of the quilt to the side tieout of my blackbird. This helps keep it pulled out and keep my shoulder covered.

Good suggestion folks! @Dammfast...interesting approach. I was cinching ever tighter to try to get it to stay put. Will also look to clip a biner to get it to stay as well.

Looser. Do not tighten to get it to stay in place, loosen it.

Take a look at the Jarbidge Video here to see what is happening when the hammock is in use and the quilt is tightened and then loosened to proper tension on the ends. Second video down. http://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/how-to-videos.html

The quilt will fit better and be warmer because of the improvement in fit. It can help a lot to have a friend or wife hop in the hammock so you can see what tightening and loosening does to the quilt...just remember to then readjust so it fits you.

Ok I have also struggled with this problem, and tried looser, tighter, shock cord over the ridgeline. The shock cord works but makes getting in and out very difficult. Tried a new system this weekend and it worked very well. I ran shock cord along the left side of the New River from one end to the other through the fabric loops. I left it loose, but pushed a loop of it through a cord lock right in the middle. After I get in the hammock, I reach out and pull the loop further thorough the cord lock until it is tight enough to suspend the long edge of the quilt over my shoulder. Stayed put all night with no CBS. Very happy with this setup. In the morning I just push the cord lock button and the line is slack again for ease of exit. I did leave one section of shock cord over the ridgeline right at my feet. Keeps the quilt over the foot box.
