What is the easiest way to secure tarp

I have tried half hitch knots, I've tried line locs...both ways have been a pain in the you know what. What method of securing your tarp lines is the simplest and easiest way that doesn't take up a lot of time to do it or make you break out a picture book to learn a new knot.

Not sure what you found about the line locs to be a PITA.

I love mine. I spliced a loop in the tent peg end of the line, ran it through the line loc, put a knot in the 'bight' end so it wouldn't come back out of the line loc. A 12" piece of shock cord run through the D ring on the tarp and tied in a loop to the line loc and voila, I have a simple, no knot, adjustable and easy to lock in guy line.

No picture book of knots, can be adjusted from under the tarp if necessary, allows for tensioning on the tarp - easy peasy!!

Are you asking about ridge line or corner guy outs and are you adverse to learning knots?

Yeah, what's a PITA about the line locs? They are about as simple as it gets. I guess you could try doing a marlin spike hitch to your stake, but that isn't as simple as the line locs to me. Or there's figure 9s and tarp flys, again though not as simple as a line loc. Other than that I think you're gonna hafta learn a hitch or two, like a prussic or a taut line hitch.

Swiped this from Intense Angler and been using it ever since. The tabs weigh nothing and I have a bunch from the adult beverages/sodas consumed at my house.

I feel like mine is sample as can be.

Dutch tarp flyz on each end of some zing-it to go around trees (straps to protect tree). I never remove cordage from the tarp; just stuff it all in the sack.

Each corner also has a "permanently" attached piece of zing-it about 6-8' long with Niteize plastic figure 9s. Easy to adjust; lets you get a lot of purchase for a nice taut tarp.

I never had a need for shockcord or line tensioners. I say forget all that crap. Keep it simple!

    There's No One Way

I've found that depending on where you're pitching your tarp will determine what the best method is.

If you're have good soil that stakes will stay in, a line with a Prussic or Klemheist knot already tied to slide works fast & easy. But if you have a duff ground cover, a stake wont stay in it very well. Then you gotta tie to other things like rocks, roots, logs or small saplings using a taught line hitch, and have enough line to accomplish that.

In the Linville Gorge it's almost impossible to keep a stake in the duffy ground cover with the amount of strong winds that come up after dark. So I have to have 6' tie outs.

Learning adaptability is a process and we've all been there and at times it becomes a challenge, but that's when all these pains come in handy.

+1 on the Trucker's Hitch. No hardware and a simple to tie adjustable knot that is also slippery.
