When I was a kid the only time we were in the house was to eat and sleep.
The foot end of a hammock is typically hung 6" higher than the head end to keep you from sliding to the foot end, but you lay level in the hammock, not with your feet actually higher than your head.
I also have a NX-250, and I normally hang with the foot end about 6" higher. The main reason is to center your center of mass so you don't slide too much in either direction.
Are you a back or a side sleeper" I sleep on my side, and the 6" foot-high configuration works well for me. Don't forget to set up with your suspension at a 30 degree angle to the ground when loaded. Hope this helps.

Well, you never know in this racket, things vary so much for individuals and even hammocks. But I have slept with the foot higher for years in all my hammocks(except JRB Bridge then head higher) with never a headache.
Then again, I don't think I have ever done 18" higher either! I would say my range has been 3" to 12 max. And whatever, my head never actually ends up lower than my chest or abdomen. That might be a problem, never could stand a head down position when on the ground.
I'd use the minimum amount of foot elevation required to keep you from slipping towards the foot end and/or to avoid calf pressure.
Are you sure it was due to feet being elevated? The only time I've woken up in the middle of the night with a massive headache while camping was due to dehydration (I was a ground dweller back in those days, so no hammock involved).

Having feet elevated is good for your circulation. Other factors could be allergies, dehydration, alcohol or maybe some other health issue. Any possibility you're allergic to down or fall pollen?

The old boy scout addage...if you sleep in a tent with your head downhill, you will wake up with a headache. That is why tenters need flat level ground. This has happened to me in the way long ago past. The blood flows to your head, and ta-da headache.
Try a good bit lower on the foot end. Save the Brain.
There are no set rules in all of this....just things to try.
