Poncho Liner as overcover?

I have used a PL as an overcover. Used the ties to attach corner to corner and it worked fine. In high humidity and cool, you might not like the condensation, but in my near-zero humidity climate it worked great.

Cheap and easy for car-camping. too heavy otherwise. . .

I do it over my ridge line and it works pretty well as mentioned above. The tips for use have been pretty much what I have experienced. I have not experienced issues with lack of air or condensation however it could happen under the right conditions.

FWIW - I am curious to see if the insulated cover works better than an basic layer of cloth sock. I do not think it will. The big advantage of covers appears to be stopping the wind thus limiting conductive heat loss.

I would also not count any heat saving into the calculations for what I needed in my kit to be warm. Take it as a bonus and you may be a lot happier in the morning. That provides a bit of margin for when your micro climate does not agree with the weather predictions. ;-)

I know this is an older thread but I just ran across it and I use my Pl as an over cover between my top quilt and tarp. I put it over my Ridgeline and loosely tied the center string on rl so I could slide it
