If I understand detail man right then that is the same method, I use it too! I believe dejoha first showed it, and it works great.
Edit: yup, here is the thread/video: https://hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=63271

That's funny, I just moved away from this setup to prussiks like the OP described.
At my last hang the hammock would rub against the tarp suspension and make a twanging sound that reverberated through my hammock into my head. I couldn't change the "V" enough to resolve it, because its size is determined by the location of the D-ring of the tarp.
I wanted a way to shape the "V" independently, so now I make a CRL and hang my tarp from prussiks.
Now I just hope the prussiks won't start sliding on me too, or I will have to change my setup again.

I even type with a Dutch accent.
As stated the distance between trees is the major offender. It's too short. Came upon the same thing this last weekend.
If the prussics are slipping and additional wraps don't work, are you using the same diameter line for prussics and CRL? That usually doesn't work too well. All my cordage prototypes are braided mason line, until I'm willing to spend for the Dyneema, and I've noticed that too.

The V is a function of a couple of variables, tree diameter and distance between trees relative to tarp length. The first affects the base size of the V/triangle against the tree. The second affects the length of the V from the tree to the tarp end.
Another variable is the height the hammock is hung relative to the tarp height. All of these variables can effect if/how the hammock suspension touches the tarp suspension.
I'm not sure how you mean the d-ring effects the V, unless you mean the distance between the tarp end/d-ring and the tree as I mentioned above.

Dang lol guess I didn't need to buy so many mini carabeaners and Dutch foys since I already had stingers! Haha oh well can still say I got to test me out a bit.
Alright so I'll try that running the CRL threw under my tarp and grew the tie outs. One end of the CRL has a mini carabiner and the other end just line that will be sinched up usng my Dutch stinger that's attatched rite fly to my tarp for closer hangs awesome! I was trying to think this whole situation threw before I ordered the flys but oh well got it figuered out now new tricks thanks a tone guys!!!
