Just got back from the Foothills trail where designated campsites didn't always align up with the daily mileage we wanted to do (or our capability limited us to). Twice out of 4 nights, we stayed on a wind-shielded hillside as a makeshift campsite. Even the designated campsites, while clearly overused, weren't all that flat.

Not having to worry about finding a flat spot to camp... worth every penny.

Looking out from swinging comfort directly at the varied colored tree tops of the season... priceless!

Just remember it's alot harder to stay warm in a hammock, then it is in a tent with a pad and bag.

There's a good chance of it. May have to set up as a group buy. Coming soon to my online store (whenever that gets set up) . It is my design just haven't gone to production yet.

Using my ground set up, minus tent, my pad and bag got me down to 25* in florida in a hammock. This would allow me to also extend my hiking, like the op had to endure, since the hammock is more forgiving then the tent/ground on my back and legs.

And I would be able to stealth hang in the bush without anyone knowing I was there, no damage to the ground like a tent would leave. Just my 2 cents.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I'll sell you the rights. My price? A first one (of whatever the product is) as payment.

I wholeheartedly concur. I consistently sleep warmer in my hammock than a tent.

No big feat, after all, in a hammock you are sleeping in/on two sleeping bags (ie a Top Quilt and a Bottom Quilt).

For my first couple of hangs---in December, in Texas 30*-40*---I used my ground set up with no problem. It just that quilts work and pack better is all. I can dump the bulk of the pad and trade it for compressibility in the quilt plus be a good deal warmer. That temps a pad will work at on the ground are only slightly lower than what they would be in a hammock.
