    KY Newb

I am a camping motorcyclist and have been sleeping on the ground on all of my road trips for the past two decades or so. On a short trip this past spring a member of our group brought along two DIY hammocks and I got to try one the first night out. Prior to that trip, I was already in the market for a new tent but decided to put that purchase on hold and spend a few months researching hammocks as a possible new home-away-from-home. I decided to pull the trigger on a not new, but never used Clark NX-250 in camo once the deal became too good to pass on. I just wish I would have figured this hanging thing out a while ago...

I've slept on the ground in all 49 state that are possible to ride to and now aim to hang in each the next time around!

Any other motorcycling hangers out there?

Hello and welcome to the forum. I also ride and camp and have a Clark nx250 in cammo. But I ride a Yamaha FJR. Just like you I used to use tents, but since I switched to the Clark I never looked back. These guys are very active always having events, and you can check out motocampers as well. See ya on the road!

I camped in t**ts for 50 years. Over the last few, especially since retirement, I've purposely decided to live in a more simple, minimalistic & back to nature way. Scrapped my old 2 person tent a long time ago for an EMS bivy tent. Then, I discovered the comfort, and ease, of hammocks this past July. They work extremely well within my chosen lifestyle. My only mode of motorized transportation is my Kawasaki Vulcan. I camp/hike in all seasons & that can occasionally be a challenge during the winter here in western Mass, because I don't ride if the roads are snow or ice covered. We're pretty good at clearing the roads of that stuff, thankfully. Temps make no difference, though. As long as the roads are clear, I dress properly & ride with an eye out for black ice or other potential hazards around me, notably other drivers with 4 or more wheels under them. Anyway....car camping is no longer an option for me (I'm very comfortable with that lack), so I've made sure that everything in my kit is multi-purpose. With a hammock, I can 'go to ground' if I need to. Whether I'm on my scoot, using public transport, a ride from a friend or family member, or walking to my destination, all I need is the appropriate sized pack & the gear for the season. It all works for me. YMMV

Welcome from Michigan. I also ride. Put back together a 71 superglide " the original NIGHT TRAIN". I always was a ground dweller and now can't wait to ride and hang.
    Happy Hangin.
