Tennessee treats State land the same as anywhere else, per that law. Discharging a firearm isn't allowed unless you are hunting in a designated hunting area and following other laws. Basically, in TN, your regular handgun laws apply for carrying, using, and self protection. I lived in TN when this law changed and it was nice to open carry. I never went into the Smoky Mountains without carrying before that, but concealed of course. Too many close calls with bears, boar, and drunk hillbillies protecting their... crops?
