? Better fabric patches, more durable than Bondex ?

I let a down garment come to rest in a hot dryer that had not cooled down before it stopped rotating. So I scorched a spot of a quilt.

I patched the damaged fabric a year ago with over-the-counter peel-and-stick Bondex nylon fabric patches. Nylon to Nylon. (Or aramid to aramid in the rest of the world.) Well, the adhesive dried completely and the patch fell off.

In addition to fine sewing, what else have you used successfully for fabric glue for patches like this, fine nylon to fine nylon?

How about the Permatex (tm) flowable gasket sealant we use for sealing seams?

I haven't used them, but several experienced friends recommended the McNett Tenacious patches like these for my 'repair kit'.

BTW, although aramids (like Kevlar) are chemically 'nylons', you will definitely see the difference from 'ordinary nylon' if you try to cut a piece of aramid fabric.

Something you probably have on hand: bike tube patches.

There was a thread on here a little ways back about patching an hole in an hammock with one. I've not, personally, tried it, so I can't comment on its versatility. But...tube patches are cheap and readily available, so...

I'm using tenasious tape on a couple of small holes on one of my hammocks and it's holding well, but it's only been there about 3 months. You might look into it though.

I have had success with a product called Tear Mender for repairs on nylon garments.
