    ring buckle question

    Something that crossed my mind..

How do people using a structural ridgeline loosen ring buckles after pulling them tight? If you dont use buckles is this why? I tried this once and it seemed a pain and I have been using a non structural since this time.

I don't pull my hammock tight. I leave plenty of sag in it. This way you can get the buckles undone. When the hammock is pulled tight it can be really hard to get the buckles loose. If your hammock has a ridgeline there also no reason to have the hammock pulled tight anyways.

I think for most folks, after you have laid in it a while the stretch that will occur will allow enough slack to loosen it. But if you tighten it down real good and don't lay or sit in it, it can be very difficult to loosen, at least with a ring buckle. But if you don't over tighten, you should be able to get it loose. Since I don't use a structural line OR I don't tighten all that much, I have never had a problem. Except when I was new to it and did overtighten, then I was worried for a while!

I have ring buckles and a ridgeline attached to the rings. As long as you don't over tighten you should be fine. I put some pics below, hope it helps. The black thicker line (spyderline) is my ridgeline. I agree with Attroll.
