That is funny.. The one foot difference in length sometimes is too much..
A lot of times my 11 fter. just fits..
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

TP & LO is an excellent set up!

Had never heard of them before I started lurking here. Great forum. Goal is to keep this as streamlined and simple as possible with a "go bag" that will allow me to hit the trail with the basics and allow more time & energy spent exploring than setting camp.
I'm really hopeful and excited hanging is gonna allow me to spend more time in the wild.

I prefer the 12' ridgeline because I feel it gives better coverage when you get the sideways kinda rain. I would get the pullouts for sure, the really open a tarp up.
Im a sinner begining to see the light.

Step away. I'm about to order another tad pole and a big daddy. And I'm sure more stuff with it.

Looking through the old threads I noted a sale last year around Thanksgiving, but just couldn't bring myself to wait.

Yep... LO and TP is what I have (and love.) I don't usually carry the LO when I backpack, but from time to time and will take the weight penalty for the comfort that comes with it. I think the LO is probably the most comfy hammock I've ever been in. I love that thing.

    12 ft Tadpole

Here are a couple of pics from this last weekend. This is my 11ft Thunderbird with a 12ft Black Tadpole and one of Marty's door kits on the head end. Should give you a pretty good idea of the coverage.

The coverage is ample and I love this set-up. As a side note, this was a first hang for me and the things that I appreciated about the tadpole are listed:

    • plenty of coverage
    • door kit into the wind and closed was great for a cold windy night
    • when pitched in porch mode, still used one door flap connected to shield the wind and the other wrapped around the ridge line under the tarp-awesome!
    • side pulls with guy-lines and even better, side-pulls with his new pole mode for the pulls
