I have been kind of quiet on the forums lately so I thought I would make a quick update on what's going on over with us over here in Lancaster, Ohio.
Our last few months have been pretty exciting....and very busy. We were able to move into a new building that we fit into much better. Truth be told, it is probably a bit too big, but we are settling in nicely and no one is complaining about the additional elbow room.
We had a couple of really nice 14.5 foot tables at our previous location but they were really jammed in there. We now have three 8ft tables, one 12ft table, and one 20ft table. We also have a 20 foot bench/table. Not to mention all of the folding tables that came with us. All these tables and somehow we still manage to completely cover them every now and then.
Also, as most of you already know, we are also now exclusively using the new ARGON fabric that Dutch introduced a while back. This 10 denier material is just amazing. A great balance of breathability, durability, and wind/water resistance. In my opinion it is perfect quilt making material. For those of you that have had the chance to feel one in person....you know exactly what I am talking about.
Another things I wanted to mention is that we re also now using 850 fill power, water resistant goose down, in all of our quilts. We are using Activ-dri right now which is basically like DriDown. I really like and believe in this stuff. Check out a few youtube videos that are out there on the qualities and comparisons of treated vs untreated down. Some of it is hyped up a little, but it DOES shed water better and it does dry significantly faster and that is worth something. Obviously, the idea is to keep you down insulation DRY, but in the event that you can't, it is nice to know you have a little more protection.
We are also stream lining things quite a bit. Learning from trial in error over the years has really done a lot for our efficiency. Things are running tighter than ever due to some of the new processes we have been implementing.
Anyway, we are looking forward to Black Friday again this year. I will not say what we are going to do this time (mainly because I do not know yet myself) but, as always, there will be some discounted goodies. I mentioned in another thread that our wait times are only about 2-4 business days right now but by the end of November, that is going to change. Our goal is going to be to try to get all of the BF orders done by Christmas but there is no way of knowing if that can be done until we see how things go for the sale. Long story short, if you want to get your quilt by Christmas, better get the order in either before the sale, or very early in the sale.
I will upload some photos of the new shop when they finish downloading to this computer. That process should be going faster than it is and I do not really want to wait for it because it is 5am and I have not gone to sleep yet... If you actually read this far, Thanks! I hope I did not ramble too much.

P.S. That last photo is what 100 pounds of 850 fill power water resistant goose down looks like...
