    Hammock Gear Incubator 0 review

Got really cold on a windy sub freezing night on the AT a couple weeks ago in my HH Ex UL hammock with a 32° NFace bag. Considered going to ground when I heard about the Hammock Gear Incubator. Called the HG guy on Wed after lunch, told him I have a few 5 night trips planned on the AT this winter and sleep cold. He suggested the 0° and I had the thing by Fri in time to adjust the set up on my deck before an early Sat AM launch for the tall hills. Took about 30 seconds to get a snug fit.

Sat night I climbed into my hammock with the Incubator underneath and the temps in the upper 30s for an expected sub freezing night, zipped into my Kelty down 0° bag wearing a polartech jacket and was soon frantic to get out of the bag and jacket to prevent a heat stroke. Slept with the bag unzipped with just a shirt and convertible pants and woke up warm and rested in the AM with several of my tent camping buddies huddled in their bags trying to get the fire re lit.

Props Hammock Gear guy for incredible service and product worth every penny.

just received my incubator 0 today. heading up to PA on Saturday for a two night trip and give it a try. unpacked it from the box at lunch today and it feels like it is going to be warm. i already use a 20 degree incubator but wanted to try the 0 for a little extra insurance. plus i needed another anyway because my son decided he wanted one like mine as opposed to his pluq i had him set up in last time we were out.

    report back after the weekend.

Incubators are a great piece of Kit!

A buddy of mine has the 0 deg for the Mt Rogers hang.

I could not use the 0 deg unless it was COLD...that thing would
make me sweat! My 20 Deg Incubator works like a champ.

I have owned two. I have loved both of them. That are both very warm. Though I had to sell one to pay for another piece of gear that I couldn't get from HG. I hope the next piece I get from them will work out just as well.

A truly fine piece of gear, for sure. I've only had mine down to the low 20's so far, but I was TOASTY!

    Take it easy,

I had my 0* incubator w/ 4oz overfill plus a 0* burrow down to 18* and I was sweating with a light base layer on. I had to vent to cool down. I can't wait to see how low I can go this year with all that downy goodness.
