    Howdy from Austin

We've been using our bikes to explore local creek bottoms and flood plains around our east side home. We like to hang out and have coffee and desert, take pictures, and just enjoy being out and about. Starting with Alight chairs, we were soon on to a variety of consumer hammocks for their better weight+bulk/comfort ratio. We're a tad more sophisticated than when we started out last spring, but we're still having fun figuring it out as we go.

Sophia is currently using a Grand Trunk Nano-7 with carabiners and tree savers and just keeping it in her bike bag.

I'm currently accumulating a bikepacking hammock-camping kit. The latest acquisition is a Hammock Gear Cuben w/ doors and Cuben sleeves that just arrived this evening, and which I'm trying in the woods tomorrow! My hammock is a Grand Trunk UL/Whoopies/CF toggles/MSH/straps. I've been using a variety of pads and quickly building up the resolve to do it right and get an UQ sooner rather than later.

Stoked about the info and enthusiasm on the site and I'm sure I'll soon have questions about how to go about rigging my hammock and tarp to use the same sleeves... Single, er... structural... ridge line? I'm fairly lost, and soon to be a frequenter of the suspension subforum! Ha ha!

Nice pics. I envy that you get to tromp/camp/hang around the hill country. Spent a couple years down near Bandera when I was a kid. Miss that place from time to time.

As to suspensions....we recently went to the huggers/whoopies/ridgeline and love that system. Especially the adjustable ridgeline part. That is genius.

    Welcome to the forum.

Howdy and welcome to the trees! There is a growing number of Texas hangers here so check out the trip planning threads for things to do if you have an interest.

Welcome to the forum. Your noob kit has mine beat by a long shot!

But I still have fun above the ground, and it looks like you are too, and that's the part that matters.
    - We're never going to survive this!!
    - Nonsense. You only say that because no one ever has.

    Welcome from Austin...

I've been very interested in mixing hammock camping with mountain biking...

Nice to see that you are already blending the two together nicely.

Welcome from N Austin near the Brushy Creek.

I'm trying to decide on under quilts myself. I just camped last weekend down near Bastrop and I'll be camping again in January of not sooner.

I love your mtn bike. Those tires are fat. A great way to move about the woods easily and just hang out to enjoy the outdoors.
