Grinder's birthday hang - Florida

Just driving home from Grinder's annual birthday hang in Lake Wales Ridge State Forest. This has become a traditional event, where we celebrate our dear friend Grinder's birthday every Memorial (whoops), I meant Veterans Day weekend. It also pretty much opens up the hiking season for us Floridians.

The best part, as always, is the great company as well as the good eatting, mixed in with the hiking to work off the calories.

Grinder's birthday cake was a blueberry cobbler made from Maine's wild blueberries, whipped up by olddog in his Dutch oven!

It was great to see my old friends again after a long hot summer's absence!

(Note: it is always Veteran's Day weekend but it is also always very memorial

)I t was good to see the gang and glad that we were able to add a few new faces!

The cobbler was amazing, as always, but the Wild Maine Blueberry cobbler put all cobbler to shame! As usual food was an ongoing theme... cobbler, bacon wrapped dates, and pizza delivery from Gainesville!

Good times, what a great way to get things moving for the season

A great kickoff to the 2013 season. Still just a bit on the warm side but bearable. Good to be back in the woods with great friends.

This would make the 1,500 mile drive worth it for me. Sign me up for the next B-day party! Yum!
