Father Son outing in Cheaha Wilderness Area-part 2

Well, after the move to a quieter campsite, we enjoyed much more rest. We hiked over to Devils Den, not quite over to Lake Chinnabee. We also got to visit with more hammock hangers up and the Cheaha shelter, where we are lunch.

I found I had not packed NEAR enough food for my growing 12 year old son, so we decided to make the move up to the State Park Sunday afternoon, get a nice refreshing shower, and have a steak dinner. At least he was almost full after that.

After a windy night, we spent some time site seeing, then made our way home.

All in all, a great weekend. Thomas got to experience more trail time, and I got to learn a few things to help make our next adventure more enjoyable. Hope you enjoy my videos...I know we enjoyed making them.

Great video aboyd, always good to see a father & son trip.
I even heard him say "very good trip" there at the end so kudos to you.
I have the opposite food problem with my daughter. Meals for 2 mean I have to eat 1.5 portions, so I have to find smaller ones.
Was that a zpack front pack you are carrying in front? If so, how do you like it?
    Nice hearing the leaves underfoot.

Yes, ZPacks front pack. I like the way it carries and the convenience. It was a little warm on the chest, trapping a little heat. When I was getting warmed up on longer uphill climbs, I could tell it holding in some heat. However, that was not that much of an issue. It also doubles as a small daypack/shoulder bag. Only used it so far on three trips, so not a lot of trail time so far. It will be making more trips for sure.

Yeah, it bugs me when people leave trash behind, especially a TENT! There was an old BBQ grill grate as well, but I left it at the fire ring...it was pretty handy for cooking. My son has finally learned to police the camping area before we leave, without me telling him. I had noticed some pieces of trash laying around when we arrived, and when we left I noticed it all gone. I asked him about it and he said "Oh, I cleaned all that up". Makes me feel good that he wants to keep the place clean.
