I really like the idea but whether or not I would convert to them is really an open question. The older i get the less control I have over my already pits eye/hand coordination and finger dexterity. For me there is something to be said for the snap and clip simpicity of the biner.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I would like to have them made for a group buy and will have my employer give me a quote. They weigh 11 to 12 grams as made. I have hung from them many times and they have held up fine. The only problem is the webbing has started to show some wear, but that is after many hangs and the I can easily just put a new loop on the end. I have been hesitating asking my employer for a quote since i don't want him to know i made the existing ones from his scrap with his tools and while he was paying me. I have a way around that now and he owes me some favors since I do all his sewing for him.

I also don't want to take any credit for the idea since it was someone elses brainchild from the old figure 9 thread, and I only added to it and made it.

I think to have them made they would cost about 5 to 7 dollars a piece. They could be made out of a stack of 3/16 aluminuim with the wire EDM machine. Then they would need to me tumbled to round the edges. I think making them out of stainless steel would be harder to put the radius on the edges, but I will ask if he has any ideas. I will ask him to price 50 piece lot and a 100 piece lot. Once I have a firm price I will start a thread to ask for people to sign up. I'm thinking they can be made in a day or two. I will make them as inexpensively as possible, but if there is a profit, all proceeds will be donated to HF.

These really do work well and they are less then half the weight of a biner. I have made them with just a band saw and files. They take be about an hour and half to make one by hand so I would love to have them professionally made.

If anyone has another or better way to get them made I will gladly turn the project over.
    Peace Dutch

Thanks Dutch. I didn't want to put any pressure on you...but I'm glad you will investigate some costs with your company. I'll be sure to let you know of anything I can do to help the project, but am more than happy to turn it over to you...after all..they may end up being called "Dutch's doohickey's".
