Seriously considering making the trip, would a MSR Alpine plate work for panning? Never tried but I'd be in for tagging along. 7.5" diameter and about 1" - 1 1/2" lip.

Give me more folly said the fool,
Give me stone silence said the deaf man,
I didn't believe Sunday School.

Looks like it would, but I would think u wouldnt want to ruin it... unless you found enough gold to pay for a new one.
So for the last 5 days during the day, weatherunderground has reported a not too bad forecast for Thursday daytime with some rain/ice/snow maybe overnight. Then when their evening forecast comes out it has consitently worse.
All the while the Friday forecast has slowly gotten worse. while the Saturday and Sunday forecasts have been decent the whole time.
Right now the forecast reads:
Thursday Night
Cloudy with a mixture of winter precipitation. Low 33F. Winds NE at 15 to 25 mph. Snow and ice accumulating 3 to 5 inches.
Friday
A wintry mix in the morning will transition to mainly rain in the afternoon. High 43F. Winds NNE at 15 to 25 mph. Snow and ice accumulations less than one inch
I'm planning to meet Firebird at Yates Place early afternoon tomorrow to unload the firewood. I'm staying the night to guard it. Looks like Grubartez will be the first to arrive Friday. Please bring equipment to chip me out of my hammock before you go off panning for treasure.
Thanks,
Pappy
Right now I'm on in watch mode on the trip or not. We admitted my grandmother into the hospital last night. My uncle and myself are still planning to leave in the morning, but things will hinge on how it all goes with my granny. Hoping for the best.
Aim for the moon, if you miss, at least you will still be among the stars.
Looks like I will not be making it. The family is being called in to the hospital. I will catch everyone next go around. Yall try and leave some gold for me.

Best regards gru. I heard from pappy. He is there and settled in at our usually spot ( where the rv was last time). Hope he is all bundled up.
Gru - best wishes man.
Miyanc - I was thinking about Pappy, thx for the update. Raining here.
