Thanks! for the video - I this this is quite doable and easily adapted to a DL version w netting. Questions - how deep did you want it, and how did you estimate depth of the hammock as related to the bridge pole lengths (width)? Also, have you thought about something lighter, like - oh - maybe old carbon graphite golf shafts (which I happen to have lying around my DIY golf engineering cathedral)?

That was a most excellent set of videos! I think even a person of very modest sewing skills (like me) could do that. I like that you used materials of contrasting colors. That made everything very easy to see.

I do have a question. In your opinion, or anyone that has made a bridge hammock, would mule tape work in place of the polyester webbing? I have about 100+ feet of 5/8 inch mule tape for playing with.

This is incredible and I am all antsy in my chair. I may have posted already on this thread, but I felt the need to post again. I can't wait to get on this project!

I have yet to watch video 2, but I am thinking of utilizing my trekking poles instead of spreader bars.

I personally don't have any experience with mule tape, but I think I remember reading others using this.

CR, Mule tape is polyester webbing. So, it'll work fine

Hikingdad, you videos are great, keep up the good work.

    Hikingdad,

Do you have any pictures of how to use the UQ antenna on Dutch's hardware?

    Sincerely,

Thanks for the input on the Mule tape. Hmm, now to make a decision to give it a go.

You can do it !, My wife and i are making ours and we are also using mule tape, i dont think it is as hard as some of the videos make it look, grizzlys were a little overwhelming at first but Hikingdads are alot more easy to understand.,
If i can do it so can you, go for it and let us know how it turns out

So, I would like to make a shorter version, say around 6 feet or so.
Would that be doable and would being shorter affect the stability much?
Last ? (for tonight at least): How to calculate the cat cut for the shorter length. I use a rather old Macbook and some programs will not open.
If I have the maximum depth at the middle of the cat cut, I can figure out the rest (I think).

I'd keep the depth of the side cuts the same.... Sorry for the slow response.

Hope this thread is helping some....would be really cool to see pics of your bridge hammocks when they are done
