Our technique at JRB...
Start at the tarp corner of the line ... wrap around the hand 5 or 6 times.... wrap the final 3 feet or so around the bundle finish with a slippery tuck....
Done...
Next night pull the slip tag.... unrolled....no knots.....
Takes abot 10 seconds a line..... Well worth the effort.
Try it... You'll like it.

Wind it in a figure 8 pattern. Wrapping in a figure 8 keeps the line from twisting while you wind it up. I adopted this technique from winding headphone cables. Check out this video for more details:

That's the technique I have been using since Nest showed it to me at Springer last year. Everybody keeps asking why I use the mason line since it tangles so easy. Well, using this method I haven't had any tangles from packing/unpacking. Thanks for showing Nest HC4U!
Trust nobody!
My lines are not attached to the tarp, I have figure 9's at each corner. The lines are attached to my stakes. WHen it's time to wrap it all up, I hold all 4 stakes in my hand then wrap the lines in a figure 8 from the tops of the stakes to the bottoms, and put the bunch in a stuff sack. One benefit is that it's next to impossible to lose a stake. (I wish I could take a pic, but I'm not home for a few weeks)

Good question regarding tangles. I have begun wrapping a rubber band around the bundle to see if that helps keep the tangles down a bit. Thanks for the other suggestions.
Is the slippery tuck what was shown in the video?
